The Inimitable
"Inimitable" - that which cannot be imitated.

I believe  that a "good" artist's work cannot be reproduced by another artist. It always surprises me to find artists whose work I can imitate quite easily - not that I would want to, respect for the artist understood.  I am not convinced of the value of such art work.  My artworks cannot be reproduced. I cannot even reproduce them myself!  When I am asked how I created a particular work, I am unable to tell - it  just "comes out of me", inspired by the moment, captured in time, a once-in-a-lifetime experience!  There are even times when an artwork doesn't go as planned, leaving me visibly disappointed, but invariably, inspiration comes along and the brush moves in a different way, the mind sees something totally different, and the resulting artwork becomes a happy surprise, even to me!  I have no doubt that Something of a higher nature is at work at these times, and I am grateful.

When you purchase my art, you can be assured of its originality and subsequent value.  I do offer reproductions of many of my works for those whose budget does not allow for the higher-priced originals. But please remember, that these are just "pretty faces" with no soul, while original fine art contains the very soul of the artist - and its value increases over time.  "If something is worth doing at all, it is worth doing well!"  If it's worth buying, it's worth investing in something of value.

* Old 4x6 postcards make a come-back in these re-created miniature works of art.  Each post card is changed into a mini-masterpiece, with colored pencil, ink, paper collage, acrylic paint, my own  home-made acrylic transfers, a measure of creativity, and plenty of imagination. All are chine-colleed on a larger sheet of BFK for optimum presentation.  Archival.

ink on newspaper - these works are "painted" with India ink, using sticks from a tree in my garden. The background collage contains news texts relative to the subject of each  work, adding to their appeal, making them interesting conversation pieces. +Desert Lady (see photo album, p.2) is framed exquisitely in neutral grays, double-matted and recessed for optimum presentation.  All others are centered on heavy weight art paper, with a 4" border, and backed. Note that these works are presented in "grayscale" for clearer viewing. The newspaper in the originals has a soft tan patina, typical of aging newspaper, giving the artworks an attractive vintage look (see example).  Commissions of  specific themes accepted.
